Population grows to 7893 residents Extra 702 people,a sign of healthy growth
LATEST Census data confirms that Mansfield Shire is a desired place to live for retirees, but also younger families.
Almost 500 more Mansfield Shire residents have entered the “retiree age” bracket since the 2006 Census.
An extra 485 people are over 55 years old, according to the 2011 Census released last week, but statistics show a good age mix across the local population.
Census data shows a rise in population of 702 people (9.7 per cent) from 7191 to 7893 over the five year period.
This is higher than the 8.5 per cent Victorian increase.
The 60-64 year age group was the shire’s biggest, 8.9 per cent of the population (700 people), a major difference to the statewide figure of only 5.5 per cent.
